Box Office Preview: 'Julie & Julia'

Julie & Julia is the true story of Julia Child and Julie Powell. Well, two true stories really. This looks so good and I so adore Ms. Streep!! It hits theaters August 7th.

It's A Slow News Day

I'm not finding squat to write about for the blog, but I did find a drag queen on MSNBC.

Anyone Else Got An Addiction To This Crack??

Prior to a few weeks ago, the only Coca-Cola products I endorsed/consumed was the Simply Orange (and Simply Apple) products. Then, somewhere along the way, I was turned onto Gold Peak Teas. My preferred variety is the sweetened flavor, which doesn't have any of that evil high fructose corn syrup! It's made with real sugar.

Did I ever mention I prefer not to eat/drink foods/beverages with that crap? I always imagine it looks like canned butterscotch pudding. Not good.

Gold Peak Tea - DELISH. And, as an added bonus, Gold Peak Tea will be fully represented at Northalsted Market Days in Chicago on August 1st and 2nd, which I will be attending.

Will This Be Enough To Nix DOMA?

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has filed a landmark lawsuit against the federal government over the legality of DOMA. DOMA - or Defense of Marriage Act - defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman, which directly conflicts with Massachusetts' marriage equality laws.

The commonwealth's attorney general calls DOMA "overreaching" and "discriminatory." It's more than likely this federal suit could go all the way to the Supreme Court. By the time that happens, we could have a new associate justice, which means we should probably be seeking her input (opinion) on marriage equality.

'Page Six' Is Actually A Bunch Of Horny Teenaged Boys

I just went to the Page Six site and was disturbed to see it is now being run by a group of horny young boys.
That's not one, not two, not three, but SIX scantily clad females gracing the page. I felt for a moment I was misdirected to a straight porn cite, but no. Looks like News Corp is really letting go of the leash on this one!

An MJ Day Recap

If you are one of the lucky ones with a job and didn't have a chance to watch the Michael Jackson memorial service today, worry not! All three networks are airing one-hour recaps (of the 90-minute service) tonight in prime time. Check your local listings.

Jackson has been buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The cemetery is quite famously-located in the Hollywood Hills and is home to some big-name dearly-departed celebrities. Jackson is being buried near his maternal grandmother, who passed away in 1990. Others buried in Forest Lawn include Liberace, Bette Davis, Andy Gibb and recently-deceased Ed McMahan.

There really are only a couple topics left for news outlets to discuss on this front: (1) the will and guardianship of Jackson's three children and (2) the autopsy toxicology results, which should be released near the end of July.

New Music Flashback: The Fray

The Fray hit the road last week in support of their self-titled sophomore album. They're off the tour this week, but will hit Phoenix and Las Vegas next week.
