Matthew Shepard was brutally murdered in one of this country's worst - and most memorable - hate crimes. If you're not familiar with the story, Shepard was just 21 years old when he was violently beaten and left for dead along a rural Wyoming road. Despite this murder and others like it, there is still no federal law to recognize sexual orientation or gender identity as protected classes. What can you do? Start with a moment of silence tonight at 6:30 to remember the shortened life of Matthew Shepard. Then, first thing Monday, write your elected officials - and the two viable candidates for president - and tell them it's time to pass an equality bill into law.
Being who you are IS NOT A CRIME. For more information and help composing a letter to your elected officials, visit HRC's Action Center.

Totally Unbelievable that this can happen to a fellow human being, and there NO COMMENTS! Regardless of sexual orinetation....something that none of us feel we have to answer to anone about, This man was young, was minding his own business, was scared, was ganged up on in a place that no-other person with a "Heart" could help him.....
And the best we can do as human beings is "Silence"!
Tomorrow, its brown hair, or warts, or acne, or masturbation....Do you think you should die out in the wilderness at the hands of three Morons
